No idea

Some days, I feel like I have absolutely no idea what I am doing. Today is one of those days! Oh well, perhaps I need to lower my expectations of what I can achieve in one day.

I've been thinking a lot about what my priorities should be now I'm at home with Hamish - still thinking it through with the help of a couple of books I'm reading. One (Creative Counterpart) suggests priorities should go in this order:
1. God
2. Husband
3. Children
4. Home
5. Self
6. Outside the house

I've been challenged by this - I think I tend to bump numbers 5 and 6 up the list and feel guilty when number 4 takes up my time, but perhaps I need to reassess this. More thinking and praying to be done on this one...

I would say 'most urgent first' and if none are urgent then rearrange the list to however you feel comfortable doing.

We all have zombie days.

I think you are maybe suffering a bit because you don't have job. You spent a lot of time & effort in the workplace & maybe a part of you needs that daily challenge ?

You can't do much about it right now of course - says da HamMan.

I sometimes float around in a daze but snap into gear when a new job comes in. It sort-of gives me a mini mountain to climb.

Well if I rearrange the list Mary my priorities will be out of whack - I'm trying to be a bit deliberate about where I spend my time, otherwise I waste a lot of it.

UD, I don't think I'm missing the daily challenge, but I think you're right that not going to 'work' does make a difference - work gives the day an artificial structure to follow.

That's the point - if the list in its original form doesn't match YOUR* priorities then it needs moving around.

*Not what your priorities should be but what they actually are :)

The thing is that I think my priorities need rearranging, not the other way around. The list is based on biblical wisdom so for my priorities to be what God wants them to be (which is what I'm aiming for) then I need to rearrange myself around the list. Otherwise I'm just making up my own rules and ignoring what God wants.

Maybe you need something more flexible, instead of a rigid order of priorities. After all, God also gave you common sense.

I agree with KM. Life is too short to be tied down by rules. You've got to do what fits the moment, love one another, treat other people well, try to be the best you can etc etc. God loves us no matter what. I just tend to follow basic lines like: Accept Jesus as my saviour, pray every day and try to live a christian life as by the ten commandments.

You can make as many plans as you like, try to follow all kinds of subscribed living techniques of one religion or another, but at the end of the day life will always take you on its own journey.

I tend to believe that life is all about how we perceive things and how we treat other people, all the while honouring God and believing in the christian teachings.
