One whale watching another

Adam had the day off today so we went whale watching at Copacobana beach, which is about 30 mins away from home. I feel like a bit of a whale at the moment so it seemed appropriate!

We didn't really expect to see anything but lo and behold after only a few minutes we saw 2 whales cruising up the coast, quite close to shore. We were lucky because there was a bloke at the lookout with binoculars and he told us when he could see them, otherwise we might have missed it.

Apparently the whales swim up the coast this time every year looking for warmer waters. These ones were swimming along quite slowly, popping up every now and again to breathe. They had a really cruisy vibe which was relaxing to watch.

Here's a picture of one:

If you were American Indians, you would be naming your newborn 'Cruisy Whale Swimming'

That's pretty cool Amc - I would like to do a whale watching cruise except after seeing how close those dolphins got to the boat up north I'm not sure I'm brave enough!!

Good photo!
