All Aboard The "Hot Tomali Train"

I have been watching a bit of the tv show "So you think you can dance". One of the judges is a very hyperactive woman who shrieks a lot. Last night, after a performance by contestants that impressed her, she told them that they were so good, they had "two tickets on the HOT TOMALI TRAIN!!!!!" Meaning their performance was akin to hot tomali, whatever that may be. The show is worth watching just to hear what comes out of her mouth!

City

We stayed in the city last Friday night, here is a touristy photo of us...

Piano

I bought a piano last week on ebay, and had it delivered yesterday. I haven't really played much since 1996 so it's been a long time. I've printed off some sheet music of church songs and have been attempting to bash out a few tunes this evening. A few things have made this a challenge:
1. My inability to read the bass clef accurately, especially the really low notes.
2. Ruby pushing her head under my hands for a pat and knocking them off the keyboard.
3. Ruby sitting under my feet, on top of the pedals.
4. Saffy sitting next to me and pawing at my arm for attention.
5. and Saffy making funny noises behind me as she chases her tail and attacks her own leg out of sheer boredom.

I shall perservere...

Sign of the times

I'm currently listening to a tape of Queen's greatest hits #2. It's the first time in a while I've listened to a cassette tape and I have to say the sound quality is not the best. But the music is still gold class - some things never change ;)

NB thank goodness fashion does change, their dress sense was a bit scary.

Funny episode of the day

This afternoon I decided to sit out the front and read the Good Weekend. The dogs were with me and heard a noise around the side. They ran off barking their heads off, and I followed.

What they were barking at was a pair of Mormons who'd been knocking on the side door. The dogs were going mental, but the bit I thought was really funny was that I was wearing pyjama pants and fluffy blue slippers so must have made quite a sight trying to control two very excited and loud dogs. It was embarrassing because I tried to drag Saffy away and she planted her feet and wouldn't move so I had no hope.

The dogs ended up calming down enough for us to have a conversation and the blokes stood on one side of the fence, holding up their Book of Mormon, and telling me Joseph Smith was a prophet. I think they were a bit surprised to find that I own a copy of the book, although I haven't read it. I said I thought the bible was all we need, and that the gospel in it of Jesus crucified and risen was enough for me. Why would God need to send another prophet after His own son?

Anyway, they were very polite and gracious, but the whole episode made me laugh. Memo to self - do not wear slippers in front yard in case Mormons drop by.
